Part 1
Recently I had the good fortune to take a group of travel agents to Bangkok and Chiang Mai on a familiarization trip. Involved in putting the trip together were Thai Airways, and Royal Orchard Holidays.
We spent a decadent few days in Bangkok , soaking up its culture at the Royal Palace and its exciting city buzz on an evening dinner cruise. This is a not to be missed activity as The City Of Angels really does shine at night.
Too much shopping was never enough and we had to drag the group away from the myriad of quality shopping experiences. Many of the women on the trip were gob smacked at the variety and quality of products and services available.
One of the truly great Thai experiences is to indulge in a Thai Spa treatment. We had the first of many in Bangkok. Again the group was amazed with this experience. In fact, most of the group had as many treatments as they could between exploring the shops, galleries and eating opportunities.
At night we went dining, clubbing and chilling out at some very cool establishments. The group varied in age and interests but everyone was happy with choices available.
Up to Chiang Mai and more fantastic shopping, eating, and Spa-ing. But Chiang Mai is much more than this. It is the cultural heart of Thailand and gateway to some of the most beautiful mountains and forests and the region is home to the fabled hill tribes of the north. It is a mecca for the adventure traveler and the culture buff alike.
We visited some truly out of this world accommodation options and gorged on food that would satisfy the most demanding foodie.
See you next month for part 2 and some specific recommendations.
