Toying with Tigers

Alison and Jason have just returned from their honeymoon in Thailand and tell us their tales of playing with these incredible felines ...

A truly amazing experience for all animal lovers ... this day trip from Bangkok is definitely worth the effort, and the reward is time to sit, observe and mingle with the majestic cats of Wat Pa Luangta Yannasampanno Forest Monastery (aka Kanchanaburi Tiger Temple). Watching these sedate felines rolling in the dirt and taking in the sun, you could be forgiven for thinking you’re looking at your moggy at home (albeit 250kg of moggy).  Even more enjoyable are the cheeky and playful cubs, weighing around 80kg, behaving like overgrown kittens!!

There are plenty of experienced staff & volunteers to guide you to move closer to the tigers and to see their very different personalities shine through.  The photo opportunities are unbelievable, and with luck you could land yourself a priceless picture of you hugging a tiger to bring home.  If you really want to get to know the psyche of these hand-raised cats, you can apply to be a volunteer and stay on the temple grounds, to help the monks with feeding and caring for the tigers and assisting the visitors who come to take home their own memories.
