Where do you go?

We begin in Bangkok and explore a city offering ‘something for everyone’.   We then head west to the River Kwai area, a region of pristine forests and heady rivers.  Here we stay in unique rafthouses, in a stunning jungle setting.  Our journey then takes us to one of Asia’s great former capitals, Ayuthaya.  We catch an overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai, cultural capital of the north and base for a fun elephant trek and a cyclo tour.  At the Lisu Lodge and Lanna farm your children will marvel at hill tribe and Thai cultures in special settings. We end our journey with a trip to the Golden Triangle and a return back to Chiang Mai.  The quality of accommodation on this journey is a highpoint of our travels.

What's the accommodation and transportation like?

We stay in well-located 3 star hotels with private, western style bathrooms, air-conditioning, and (generally) TVs.  Most hotels have swimming pools.   We also spend 1 night in the wonderful Lisu Lodge, an award-winning service staffed by local villagers, 1 night at the Lanna Farm, 1 night in a floating hotel with no electricity and 1 night in a sleeper train.

All road travel is in comfortable minibuses or 21-seater buses. There are 2 journeys of around 4 to 5 hours, and several of 1 to 2 hours.

Wat Pho

Who else is in the group?

Your journey is escorted by both a western tour leader (where groups are at least 7 persons in size) and a local English-speaking guide. You will travel with other families, and groups are never more than 16 people in size.
